Advice on learning Spanish ?

My partner and I would like to learn Spanish as quickly as possible but it just doesn’t seem to stick. We were advised to listen to Spanish songs and watch our favourite tv shows and listen to our favourite music in Spanish but when I have no idea what they’re saying how is that helping me learn?

Some people like Duolingo to fill up short breaks

Read Spanish (childrens') books with the help of a good dictionary. If you need to look up dozens of words per page, find a simpler book
