Why is my metabolism so slow?

I’m 173lbs, 20yr old, 5’8” and a woman. Even if I eat very little I lose no weight. I work 4 days a week where I stand on my feet for the entirety of my 8hr shift. I track my heart rate and steps with a fit bit. It always says 8hr fat burn because my heart rate is in the 130s at my fast paced job, I also get about 16,000-18,000 steps in. I can’t lose weight no matter how hard I try. I don’t eat fast food or processed food, my diet mainly consists of vegetables and caffeine. I’m also on adderall which should raise my metabolism. I don’t have hypothyroidism, I’ve already been tested. What’s wrong?

I know a woman who has had trouble losing weight.  She has had success by eating one meal per day, usually in the late afternoon.  She lost 25 lbs in 84 days.  She eats meat, fat, whole milk, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, and bacon.  She avoids carbohydrates--sugar, wheat, pasta, rice, potatoes.  I think she has continued to lose weight.  She looks much better.

Your heart rate is way too high. Maybe this is because of the Adderall? Or too much stress? Or too much caffeine? That is a lot of steps per day.

Sounds like you need to rethink how you are doing things. Cut out the caffeine. Cut out Adderall if it is not required. Stop stressing yourself out, which can ad pounds.

Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. You might consider taking a vacation. Also, if you don't sleep much, this can actually cause you to gain weight.

Remember: Metabolism doesn't mean much if it is artifially induced.

some people are just slow .. this conflicts with the corporate propaganda that says you need to eat enough to feed a small herd of cattle everyday so they can sell you cartloads of groceries ... if you only need one small meal a day to function then thats what you train yourself to eat ...
