Dual License Plates?

So I live in Rhode Island and I recently bought an Audi A3. I’m trying to figure out if it is legal to have both the State Issued License Plates as well as European Style Plates on my car. The European ones would be for decoration only and the State Issued Plates would serve their purpose. Is this legal? Where can I find more information on this?

IF that would be a problem, there would be some STATE LAW against it, so ask at the DMV .................

If it's not prohibited by Rhode Island law, it's legal.  That's how traffic laws work.

RI law says you must have RI plates displayed properly on your vehicle.  It doesn't say anything about exterior decorations.

So. It is illegal to display any plates but the Rhode Island plates.  So.
So, look up the laws on the Rhode Island DMV website... So Duh...... So Another needless "SO" preface.

Question:  Where can I find more information on this?
Answer:  Rhode Island vehicle code:  https://law.justia.com/codes/rhode-island/2012/title-31/

Question:  Is this legal?
Answer:  The law isn't about what is legal, it is about what is not legal.

ANYTHING that is not specifically illegal, is legal.
The law says you gotta have your license plates.
The law says nothing about any additional license plates.
Hence, your European plates are legal.
Not to mention, many people keep their European plates.
