Has anyone ever made fun of or downplayed your mental illness in front of you and how did you respond?

yess, i feel like i have experienced this for so many years. back when i was like 12, i started going to therapy and taking medication due to mood disorder, social anxiety, and self-destructive behavior. i feel like this was always used against me by my family. whenever i showed slight signs of mental illness i would get yelled at, (told im making everybody depressed???? when in reality i go out of my way to make others happy??) and told im faking it for attention. it's six years later now and i think that's the reason i find it so difficult to open up to others. i stopped going to therapy a couple of years ago because i feel like i would pay $150 a session for the therapist to go "just breathe, work through it, and be happy!!!" literally one time i had a therapist tell me that i need to work through my panic attacks and learn to smile??? so many people, including therapists, will never never never never understand. yet they post ig stories saying "be happy!!! mental health positivity!!! ๐Ÿ˜—โœŒ๐Ÿป" as if theyre not mean and ignorant. people dont seem to even try to understand us until it happens to themselves or their family.

Yep. Only once. I punched him hard in the face, busting his nose in the process, and whilst he was on the floor I asked him if he still thought it was funny.
He didn't reply.
