Is school the cause of a good amount of anxiety and depression in children under 18?

As I've gotten older I have noticed the unreal amount of homework compared to when my parents were in school. The stress put on students by school has also seemed to increase. I know a senior in high school who spends pretty much ever waking hour just to get a couple extra credits in high school. I personally dont think that it's healthy. How about you?

I also think the system is f*cked. They don't teach real life **** to students and on top of depriving them of that, they overload them with work. Then every adult has the nerve to turn around and say "You're young, what are you tired for? Your only job is to do your homework why is it so difficult?" There shouldn't be "relatable jokes" about crying over homework and grades. For some reason the system is set up so that middle and high school students think that everything they do in those years will make or break their entire life. It's super unhealthy.
