How did Tony Iommi get his tone back in the day?

I know how he got the one for Paranoid but I was wondering about the first album “Black Sabbath”
I have an SG with P90s and I really like the tone on that album.

Iommi was all about the Marshall Plexi amps back then.  On a budget, you could try a Plexi-drive pedal.  Valve amp tone, gain is the key.

To get the actual Iommi tone, you will have to experiment---try cutting the tips off a couple of your fingers, so  you can approach the instrument the way Tony did.
