Applying for a teacher position without licence?

I'm preparing to take the Praxis II exams I need as part of the licences process. I've passed the Praxis I Core exams. I'm considering applying to be a teacher next school year but I am worried that because I haven't passed my test as of yet it may hurt my chances if I go in for an interview that I am still working towards certification. Should I wait until I have everything taken care of before applying to teach? I thought about applying early to try and take initiative but I don't want it to hurt me if I still have things to take care of. Any advice?

You didn't say what you're applying to teach. Most states have waivers for people who can teach math, science, ESL, special ed, and foreign languages. Passing the Praxis is enough to get you hired, and then you have a few years to take the education courses if you don't have them. Go ahead and interview. A job offer may be conditional on your passing the exams, but most schools start hiring for the following fall at this time.

NO, DON'T WAIT. It may or may not hurt your chances, but many schools are willing to sign you on provided you complete your certification as soon as possible.
DON'T WAIT and GOOD LUCK!
