This is iron oxide red it is a natural substance very close to being rust that's essentially what it is

Red is the actual colour. If you buy iron oxide paint, it is orangy red. I do not know why you would eat it though.

Iron oxide is a natural pigment but it's not approved as a food additive for humans..it is used in pet food and pharmaceuticals
