Does anyone confront or counter their bias? If one of them says something is true or debunked, do those dogs just go on sniffing and admiring each others' rears?
Are they simply a bully publishing arm for liberal political ideology?

Honestly I have never trusted any of them as far as I can throw them. But you take your chances.

Facts are facts. The truth has no bias. If it weren't for Right Wing propaganda outlets like Breitbart, Newsmax, OAN, and Fox there would be no need for fact checking their lies.

is wrong on several levels. I do have to ask though, do you understand that a fact checkers job is
"to CONFIRM the TRUTH of an assertion made in speech or writing" and therefore cannot be biased ?
Once you've absorbed that tidbit of information you [should] be able to see just how far out of left field your perception is, [should] if there's any normal brain function.
