I don't understand this they poop, pee wherever they want, eat your apples, potatoes (if you don't put your food away) and they live in the walls where the insulation is, plus they fact they carry disease and are just plain ugly.
We have rats due to Covid closing many restaurants and eateries, so rats have invaded my home. Never had a problem with them in 52 years

I love rats. Sorry, not the wild ones that can cause disease, but tame rats that you can have as a pet. Tame rats are very clean, and very specific about their bathroom habits, and really~ what animal ISN'T going to eat food you have left out on your counter?

Pet rats do not live in the walls or raid the pantry, just like pet dogs do not roam the streets in packs.
