I received my 1099-g (in Massachusetts) from the 3 weeks I was on unemployment and the unemployment compensation total is $12,000. Of course this is absolutely, unequivocally incorrect but I have no idea how I can have this corrected in time to file for taxes. What am I supposed to do?

Are you sure it's "unequivocally incorrect"?
The minimum payment in my state is $161. I googled MA but it wasn't quickly available
$161 + $600 extra for 12 weeks = $9132.
If you worked full-time at minimum wage your benefit would be $269.
$269 + $600 extra for 12 weeks = $11628 in unemployment.
The money adds up very quickly when you get an extra $600...
If you compared your 1099-G to your employment history and it's incorrect, then you contact your unemployment office, I'm sure they have a way to communicate with them via their message service.
However, it doesn't matter = a 1099-G is informational. You file what you were actually paid. If it doesn't match your 1099-G in 6-9 months you will get a CP2000 letter from the IRS. This will tell you that there is a discrepancy. You provide the history of your unemployment that shows the 1099-G amount is wrong and your problem is resolved.
