What is the cheapest way to save money on heat during the winter? Amid it best to leave the house at a certain temp all day or should I schedule the temp throughout the day. When I’m at work leave it at a lower temp?

If your thermostat is programmable, turning the head down to 65F at night or while you're away during the day is a good way to save loads of money on your heating bill.
window sealing during the summer months,,snug fitting door trim..if the place is gas heated,w radiators.there is a burner which feeds gas that is adjustable to flame lower,if it is forced air,set the thermostat to 50 degrees when you are gone,,ir set the timer to once an hour for ten minutes
I can't quote any specific studies but most electric companies encourage people to turn down their thermostat when they are not home because it saves electric.
For any given structure, the less difference between the inside temp and the outside temp, the slower the heat loss. That means you WILL use less energy allowing the temperature to drop somewhat when you are away. How much is the only question.
