Snowblower throwing some snow short?

My brand new Toro snowblower is throwing the majority of the snow about 30 feet, but as it’s doing that it’s also throwing the lower portion of snow (a much smaller amount) only a couple of inches. Is that normal or should I contact the service department? Thanks.

check the snow ... if there's layers; soft, fluffy layer atop partial melted slush [for example] this is normal.  even one of those machines can't throw heavy, wet stuff very far.  and if it's self-propelled the rate of feed is controlled by the forward speed -- which is fixed -- try disengaging the self-propelled feature and push it ahead more slowly.  -- grampa

Depending on the snow it's working with, that will happen.

maybe you should hire a mechanic to fix it

It will do that if it’s a slushy snow or if the chute is getting plugged up.
