Yes, they are very good dependable cars. Ford has been building them since 1964. Are they as reliable as a Honda or Toyota? Not quite but they are still good cars if taken care of.

No, they're really not.
Get something good. These days, that pretty much leaves Ford out. Hondas and Toyotas and Kias are far better.
