My SEAGATE expansion 4TB hard external drive doesn't auto-play anymore when I plug it in?

The hard drive does work, as in I can still open it under My PC in Windows 10. But the drive  doesn't pop up automatically anymore when I plug it in, in other words, it doesn't Autoplay on its own. Do you think it needs formatting?

why not check your Autoplay settings in the Control Panel?

As long as it works, you should be happy. Be worried when it doesn't anymore.

No, it does NOT need formatting.  That would wipe everything off the drive.  Do not format it.

Whether it autoplays is a setting in Windows.

Press Windows + r key.

Type in Control panel.

Double click on AutoPlay option icon.

Check the box, "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices."

Your drive will start autoplaying again.

No, it is a setting on your pc

Don't format the drive, as that would erase the contents of your drive, there is a setting to return USB External Drives back to default autoplay, I forget where that is though.
