Why are all today's Christians doing their own thing when I Cor 1:10 says "Let there be no divisions among you" but there are 39.5K+ diff...?

Because of the pride and arrogance of one misguided man, who thought He could do a better job of interpreting the Bible than the Church which compiled the Bible under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So Father Luther defected from the original and true Christian Church, and founded a church of his own, supposedly based on "the Bible alone", which obviously meant his own personal interpretations of the Bible. Before he died, there were already half a dozen other Protestant churches that had defected from his church because they didn't agree with his biblical interpretations. The doctrinal chaos of Protestantism had begun. Today there are more than 6,000 registered Protestant denominations, each one claiming to be teaching from "the Bible alone", yet the teaching of each one contradicting the teaching of the others. And that doesn't even include the 20,000+ so-called "non-denominational" Protestant churches, which are just mini-denominations. Truth cannot contradict truth, so obviously untruth is rampant in such unauthorized manmade churches. Meanwhile, the one Church Jesus founded remains one in belief, one in teaching, one in worship, one in biblical understanding throughout the world after 2,000 years. God has preserved his word all down through history for the benefit of mankind.  Even through attempts to destroy it.  And notice here what Jesus said about God's word - John 17:17 - Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth.  - - - -  Now, as you would expect, God's word of truth gives us the key on how to choose the right religion.  One of the most important things is to follow this example in God's word - Acts 17:11 . . . carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.  - - - -  If God's word IS the truth, we can examine it carefully to make sure we are indeed getting the truth.  Because the truth cannot be contradictory.  For example, either God is a trinity, or he is not.  Both cannot be true.  And either there will be a rapture, or there will not be one.  Both cannot be true.  So if something seems to be contradictory in God's word, we need to examine it more carefully.  Because the Scriptures clarify themselves.  God did not leave it up to men to interpret his word.  That is, to be able to find the truth.  There is no greater treasure to be found. Bible truth liberates us from superstition, confusion, and morbid fear. It gives us hope, purpose, and joy. Jesus said: “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”​—John 8:32.  - - - -  Jesus assures us that we can KNOW the truth.  And that truth sets us free from all sorts of false religious teachings. 
One example of the truth is the Scripture you mention at 1 Corinthians 1:10.  So, to find the religion that God approves of, which ONE is completely united?  All over the globe?  In both their teachings and their conduct?  Because a true Christian cannot be a hypocrite.  Now another avenue of help we have is prayer.  We can ask the Hearer of prayer for his guidance and help in understanding his word correctly - Psalm 65:2 - O Hearer of prayer, to you people of all sorts will come.  - - - -  He can also help us in finding the right religion.  In fact, not only does he tell us to examine the Scriptures carefully, but he also warns us of those that are not sticking to the Scriptures - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 – 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing extraordinary if his ministers also keep disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness. But their end will be according to their works.  - - - -  And Jesus spoke about false teachers (prophets) in Matthew chapter 7.  So, we can apply these principles when searching for the right religion.  There are other key factors in helping to identify the religion that God approves of.  Note Jesus' words here, telling how his true followers would be identified - John 13:35 - By this all will know that you are my disciples — if you have love among yourselves.  - - - -  To be completely united, they would have to have love among themselves.  No divisions.  And they would also follow the Bible's direction on how far their love should be extended.  Note these 3 passages that provide that information - Proverbs 25:21 - If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; If he is thirsty, give him water to drink,  - - - -  Luke 6:27 - “But I say to you who are listening: Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you.  - - - -  Romans 12:20 - But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink;  - - - -  So, they would extend their identifying mark of love even to those that hate them!  That narrows down a large number of religions around the globe.  In view of these passages, they could not go to war and kill their fellow man in another country!  Jesus gives us another key to help identify his followers.  Note what he said they would do - Matthew 24:14 - And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.  - - - -  Jesus' followers would be preaching the Kingdom all over the entire inhabited earth.  And this work would be taking place during the last days.  Because Matthew 24:3 shows Jesus' disciples had asked him for a sign of the end.  He lists wars, pestilences (COVID is certainly a pestilence),  food shortages, and the preaching of the good news of God's Kingdom.  This again narrows down the number of religions to choose from.  Now are we really getting close to the end?  Is it time for this preaching work to be going on?  Note this Scripture that describes a particular time in mankind's history - Psalm 92:7 - When the wicked sprout like weeds And all the wrongdoers flourish, It is that they may be annihilated forever.  - - - -  Along with the sign that Jesus gave his disciples, that is being fulfilled all over this globe, we see that wickedness and wrongdoing are flourishing more rampantly than at any other time in mankind's history!  And right among all the wickedness, the preaching work is being accomplished in 240 lands around the globe.  It is available online in over 1000 languages! 
We MUST be getting close to the fulfillment of Jesus' words at the end of Matthew 24:14 where he said, "then the end will come."  - - - -  Please note that God wants everyone to have an accurate knowledge of the truth - 1 Timothy 2:4 – whose (God’s) will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.  - - - -  And as it says, accurate knowledge can lead to one's salvation.  Just like knowing the details of a particular storm can save one's life, having accurate knowledge can lead to one being saved through the imminent storm of Armageddon.  So God is making sure that everyone that hates wickedness and is blameless, is hearing the message of the Kingdom good news.  Before he brings this destruction at the storm of Armageddon - Proverbs 2:21 & 22 - 21 For only the upright will reside in the earth, And the blameless will remain in it. 22 As for the wicked, they will be cut off from the earth, And the treacherous will be torn away from it.  - - - -  And that passage gives us another key to finding the correct religion.  Who teaches that the blameless and upright are going to be left on the earth at Armageddon?  And that it is the wicked that are going to be cut off?  - - - -  In view of the foregoing information, I invite you to visit a web site where free Bible lessons are offered online.  Where you can find the accurate knowledge from the Scriptures.  The accurate knowledge that God wants you to have.  But it requires setting aside any rumors you may have heard about this organization.  And any rumors about it's people and what they teach.  You MUST pray to God first, asking for his help.  And then, examine the Scriptures carefully.  To make sure you are indeed getting the accurate knowledge that God wants you to have.  Then, you may be around after Armageddon, to experience THESE conditions on the earth - Psalm 37:10 & 11 - 10 Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. 11 But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.  - - - -  The free Bible lessons I mentioned are at this web site:

If we followed Gods instructions …..there would be considerably less religions.

Anytime someone says “I Think …the scripture means this” …I cringe. That is exactly how we ended up with so many splits (denominations).

Instead of what we think ….how about what the Word declares.
II Timothy 2:15 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

This verse does not say to interpret the Word of truth, but to RIGHTLY DIVIDE. Of coarse everybody who reads the Word, divides it….. the question is….. is it rightly divided; because if there is a right way to divide it, most certainly there are wrong ways to do it also.

The words “rightly divide” is translated from the one Greek word “orthotomounta”, “orthos” means “perfectly right” or “perfectly straight” “temno” means “to cut”. This word orthotomounta literally means “a perfectly right cutting” Its intricate nuance of meaning is, that there is only one way to rightly cut the Word, all other ways are wrong.

God does not tell us to interpret the Bible, but rather to “rightly divide it”, in other words, see how the Bible interprets itself………….. When we do that, it removes all the guesswork, all the error, all the opinions and all the private interpretation out of it, which will leave us with an accurate rendering of the truth as God intended. …..
Because truth by its very nature is singular; in other words you cannot have two different meanings for one truth.
If you feel scripture is saying something to you, and I feel it’s saying something else to me, one of us could be right, but for sure one of us is wrong…. because absolute truth cannot mean two different things; it would be a contradiction of terms. Truth is not adaptive to opinions nor is it flexible to feelings …it is absolute. What was truth yesterday, is truth today, and will be truth tomorrow….. facts can change, but truth remains the same …..always.

The Bible is riddled with references to the everyday customs of the time in which it was written. It is helpful to become familiar with the manner of life, idioms, orientalism’s, figures of speech, customs and culture…. to properly understand scripture. …But more importantly it is reading what is written and keeping it… in its immediate or remote context.

There are several keys and principles in rightly dividing the Truth, (to long to post)…. but always remember the Bible must fit together with no contradictions because Gods word like God himself if perfect (Psalms 138:2).

Not all Christians are doing their own thing, although you make a good point.  There is a group of Christians who are being, and doing, just as Paul said in First Corinthians:  they actually do speak in agreement, think in agreement.  They are actually not divided.  No matter where they are located on earth.  They are not doing their own thing.  They are doing the Lord's thing, and they are doing it the Lord's way....Show more
