What is the difference between ups and usps?

USPS is a former government institution now running as an independent.

UPS is a regular small company like FedEx and Airborne.

UPS is a private company which has incentive to get things delivered on time. USPS is a quasi government agency which looses tons of money through typical government inefficiency and  waste and delivers your package or letter much later than their tracking system seems to suggest.   There are few things that the private sector can no and does not do better than the government.

UPS- United Parcel Service
USPS- United States Postal Service

USPS is a government agency. UPS is a private company. UPS only ships packages, while the post office will handle mail and packages of any size.
