What happened to my dog?

My small dog (Chihuahua) was picked up by someone (after I told them not to) and ended up jumping from their arms and falling. I did take her to the animal hospital and she was checked out.

However, right after the incident, my dog started shaking very badly and swaying/bobbing back and forth. Her eyes did not flicker but she wasn’t blinking. Just big eyed. She was also having trouble walking (crouched when she walked, couldn’t find balance)

I told the animal hospital all of this of course and she has a follow up appointment with the vet. But I’m wondering what happened? The animal hospital did not find any immediate signs of physical injury and her vitals were normal. Do you think it could be a head injury? I’m just trying to get a better idea so I can keep an eye out for any weird behavior.

If a Veterinarian examined the dog and didn't see any problems, I can only guess based on your description. I'm guessing a blood clot on the brain.

If your Vet couldn't answer that question, there is no way we can. There are no Vets on this site. Continue to talk to the Vet. or seek a second opinion. Head injury is a possibility.

A piece of plastic with smooth edges, such as a button, would almost certainly pass through unharmed. Small scraps, such as a bite of plastic grocery bag, are the same. However, keep shopping bags away from your dog—they might not cause any harm if a dog swallows a small amount, but if they obstruct the airway, they may completely suffocate or choke your dog.
