Can a 55 inch TV fit in a shelf unit that is 31 and a half inches high?

I want to buy a new TV that is 120 HDZ. The smallest that they come in is 55 inches. My space for my TV is 31 and a half inches high. I currently have a TV that is 42 inches.

Take a tape measure to a store that sells TVs 
and find out what will fit that way.

Its likely to be an extremely tight fit. You might need to reconsider where you put your TV

Take a look at the size specs of a few models you are interested in. Not all are the same exact physical sizes.


One I am looking at on Best Buy right now, a Hisense 55 inch set, has a height of 28.03 inches when fitted with it's stand. So, that should fit the space you describe.
