Would it be a good idea to date a female with genital herpes? ?

I’m a female that was diagnosed with hsv-2 last year, I was dating a guy for a couple months and he didn’t tell me he had genital herpes. We used protection but it didn’t change anything I still got it and he just laughed and said sucks doesn’t it. I have been scarred for life because of that and I have been in such a dark place. The thought of me ever being in a happy relationship again feels out of reach. He dumped me after that and said he just wanted to give it to someone like how he got it. Don’t hurt this girl, she is brave for telling you and must really like you to have shared that. There’s a lot of shame that people get with hav-2 so it’s understandable if you wouldn’t want to get it too. I wish there was a cure so much.

You can date her if you want to. But if you want to have sex with her, make sure of a few things. Ask them if she's on antiviral medication and taking it regularly. Don't have sex or give her oral sex, while she has any signs or symptoms of a break out. When she's in between break outs and if they're taking antiviral medication regularly, she would be less likely to pass it on when she doesn't have a break out.
It's not a status symbol, but there's a negative stigma attached to having herpes.
I have had herpes for 10 + years and I'm married.

Yes.  Herpes can be a status symbol.

If you are already infected - then yes. Best to let the infected people stay with other infected people instead of spreading the disease.
