What kind of scooter should i get to drive around Florida?

Does one require insurance to be able to drive it?  I have license.

I think motorcycles require insurance.  I'd rather get run over by a car than pay insurance.

The problem with scooters is that motorists don't respect them. Extremely close tailgating is standard. I have almost been hit from behind just going through town. A regular motorcycle would be better. At least you get more respect on a motorcycle.
