Why can't wireless usb keyboard type if i'm using any of the other usb ports?

I gave it its own dedicated port, but i can't type and use any other usb ports at the same time.  It doesn't always do this, seems to work for a little while after fresh reboots.

Why is this happening and how can it be resolved?

is it on a hub? USB hubs only split the port. it's still a single port, so only one stream of data gets sent at a time.

reinstall all of the USB drivers.  Btw, a true 'dedicated' USB means that, from the viewpoint of the motherboard, there is nothing else running on that USB controller -- the external ports might be internally connected to the same USB controller.  Frequently, this is NOT a problem if you use widely separated USB ports [example: one from the front of your desktop and one from the back, or, on a laptop, one from each side of the device]. -- grampa
