What is the Replacement for Yahoo Answers?

Yeah, this was asked 5 years ago, with no good answer.  Now it is a relevant question.  Yahoo Answers is shutting down in a couple of weeks.  Note this is not an April Fool's joke.

What is a good replacement for Yahoo Answers?

-   Has all or most of the same categories
-   Free to join, ask and answer
-   Preferably no sign-up required (or just sign in with an e-mail)

I doubt there is or will be one replacement. Someone could try to build a near-clone of Yahoo Answers, but I doubt it will happen. As for existing sites, people have different preferences. It is unlikely they will agree on which site is the best replacement.

Stack Exchange is excellent.

Twenty years ago, I liked USENET. It's a discussion form, so there are more than question and answers there. Unfortunately, a lot of ISPs dropped NNTP service.

A comment about Stack Exchange: I tried it several  years ago. As a new user, what I could do was limited. As users build their reputations, the limits are eased. But, I had difficulty building my reputation because people were using comments to give answers. That was against the rules, but the rule wasn't enforced.
