It was an inevitable move.  Yahoo/Verizon lack the depth of talent or talent in general to properly run a site like this.

This site has declined for a long time. Only askers can choose best answer, meaning many questions never get a best answer. An increase in trolls and apparently little done to stop it. Comments being "temporarily" disabled that is clearly now permanent since they're getting rid of the site. Yes, it's sad, but it's time to end it.

It's basic Cancel Culture... 

They're too afraid of advertising diverse ideas and everyone else is, too... so now we have to guess what the grumps out there are thinking instead of at least getting a hint of it via media and so... I think random crimes will happen more often because people will not be as wary as they could be if freedom of information were actually upheld.
