In my native language, the adjective 'thoughtful' is often translated as 'polite'.
However, does this word make sense in this context:
"After hearing his proposal, I lowered my head, THOUGHTFULLY."
Note: In this case, by 'thoughtfully', I mean 'to think for a while'.

It does technically make sense, however, I feel it is fairly prone to misinterpretation, and is also rather unnatural sound.
Although the adverb "thoughtfully" can be used to mean "in thought" or "while thinking", it is far more often used to mean "politely" (unlike the adjective "thoughtful" which has a fairly even split between being used to mean "polite" and "in thought".)In this situation it would be more natural (and less ambiguous) to say "After hearing his proposal, I lowered my head in thought."

Tense wrong......... so should use "thinking " and no comma or use in in the beginning..... for it is a stand alone word.....
