are most of the questions that see on yahoo answers really asking for people's OPINIONS and not really asking for information?

i have wondered that about myself too, and think i quit asking for information so much as i was asking what other people thought of the theory, argument or idea i proposed or about something else . but only like 20 percent of the time about actual information that i could find myself on the ineternet. is this true for most? is this why they want to shut this down? to silence OPINIONS? about what? why?

If you simply google "what academics think of yahoo answers" you will find that there are articles on this subject.
Academics have came on here before to test how much of yahoo answerers content is reliable and factual and the general consensus gathered was that Yahoo Answers was largely an unreliable source for information with users not even bothering to provide sources or citations and more often than not wrong about what they are sharing.
They pretty much conclude that yahoo answers had turned in to the opposite of what was originally intended and had became a place full of personal opinion.
This might be ok on sections dealing with relationships and such. But for topics such as Science and history yahoo answers was not recommended.
This could also explain one of the many problems with yahoo that in the end resulted in the shut down.

On the vast number of occasions I think that most of us are here to use up some of the time that we have far too much of now that we are retired - or 'whatever'. I'm really gonna have to find a new hobby now.

Are you new here or just stupid?
This site is not boring like ask.com.

Yes now that you asked a question asking for opinions. "Why why why".

They're blocking free thinking, individual thoughts, and free speech
The neo corporate leftists want to tell you what to think and you're not allowed to have a say. It's part of the NWO.

The site wasn't created for opinions. It was created to be a database of knowledge and experience. Asking peoples "thoughts?" or "Who agrees.....?" or similar, provided no real valuable content to the database. That's the kind of question for a chat room or ones social media page. The opinion questions are basically chat, and not appropriate for the intent of the site. There were Yahoo Groups for opinion questions or other chat sites.

The most popular boards are politics, religion, and polls/surveys. All of which imply opinion. If everyone agreed, there wouldn't be anything to debate. Politics and religion are the most controversial. "Polls/surveys" being contingent upon opinion is self evident. I do believe Yahoo Answers is being shut down for the same reason Parler was temporarily shut down. The pandemic has caused the establishment to become tyrannical.
