Can the officers of a publicly held company be sued for making statements about political issues that end up costing the company business?

Especially statements in the name of the company?  They have a responsibility to the shareholders.  If they make statements that damage the company, are there any possible legal remedies?

Susie, ceo's are making statements in the name of the company, and the SCOTUS maintains that corporations are legal humans in the sense that they have freedom of speech protections from the government.  Your simplistic view of things just does not apply.

Individuals have a right to  their own opinions separate from their companies. The company shouldn’t suffer unless that opinion sways the companies actions.  Idiots who punish a business because of an individual’s  beliefs/opinions is a communist.
