What is the purpose of asking a Question?

Are Questions able to be factually answerable? Or are they ok to be opinion based answers? Is this intended to be another forum that invoke discussions and debate? What are the appropriate types of questions to ask here?

    well i guess its all depends what your looking for some people are actually looking for answers,, some are brushing up on there ignorance and some also play it like a game .. the purpuse is the way you use if you see no purpose in it then thats up to you

    1. Yes, it all depends on the question.

    2. I feel everything on the internet will invoke discussions and debates, no matter where it is.

    I think you could ask anything.. Some questions (like the one you just asked) would require an oppinion based answer, while other, factual questions could get a factual answer.

    The very purpose of asking a question is to know somtehing.So ask only those questions which you yourself cant answer.
