Why is Amazon.com called Amazon.com when it's a bookstore?

because a public marketing executive thought it would be a good name to generate interest and probably got paid way too much to come up with it too.

its not just a book store it is "jungle" packed with goods. you can find books to camera battery chargers to cds and movies
