I have a large package to ship and I am trying to determine the least expensive way to ship it. Ideas?
I have a large item I am trying to ship. The item itself is 6 ft. x 4 ft.
The box is about 3.5 feet x 4.5 feet and it is about 3 inches in widt. It weight 13 pounds.
I've priced this package through USPS and it says I cannot ship it through USPS. On USPS I am getting a quote for $185.00 to $310.00 and Fedex is quoting me $302.00. DHL is quoting $104.00 to $153.00.
I understand that this is a large package. But am I mis-calculating these costs or is there any better, more affordable way to ship this?
Thanks so much!
Sorry, the box itself, with the item ways 13 pounds.
The item is able to fold in half to fit in the box, that is why the box is smaller than the item.
I've tried regular mail, but it says that the size is too large to be shipped
Sorry about the confusion.
I'm not positive of the address, but it may be across country, so driving really isn't an option.

If it matters, you may want to check those dimensions. The way you wrote it up, the "item" will not fit in the box. And you told us how much the box weighs, but not the "item".

Thanks for the clarification. You have already tried USPS, which I have found to typically be the cheapest, but they do have size limits that are more strict than other carriers. I think UPS would be the next choice, but I haven't tried most of the others. The advice you're getting from others should help you.
Good luck!

The best was I found is through Shippi.com. They charge you by weight, you just need to make
sure you put in the correct shipping weight.

Check out a freight broker. They might have extra space on a truck and you might be able to get a good deal. Chances are you will have to have your item on a pallet, though, in order for them to pick it up.

If it is multiple items or you are able to break it down...then it will be cheaper to send in a few boxes. Try Grayhound. Honestly I have heard that you can pay for them to take things.
