I'd run Ad-aware and Spybot on that computer. You can get them at www.download.com ... she could very well have spyware. I'd run a virus scan too.

True ... she might need more RAM

She probably has lots of spyware, maybe even viruses such as a Trojan, that previously may have been on her computer, but due to your slower connection then, they couldn't connect to their host sites. Now they are probably all running at the same time and connecting to malicious websites, and locking up the computer because they are all using too many system resources. Download Spybot Search and Destroy and remove those spyware programs.

i do no longer understand why you're able to community with usb. i could get a router- no longer something fancy is mandatory. could value approximately $50 or much less and run an ethernet cable (aka Cat-5 or RJ45) -no longer a crossover cable- upstairs. yet another determination a sprint greater costly is a on the spot router. i do no longer understand how some distance you're attempting to broadcast yet a namebrand on the spot router could furnish highspeed to a particularly sized 2 tale domicile. on the spot could in all probability value approximately $60+ for the router and then $20-30 for the receiver which you're able to plug into the laptop. it is going to nevertheless have plugs in the back so which you would be able to hardwire the laptop downstairs. Ethernet cable shouldn't value greater desirable than approximately $a million-2/ foot. yet i does no longer run it farther than approximately 50ft in a run because of the fact the sign capability turns into worse.

maybe the problem is not the High speed connection. My friend had the same problem. I spent about 2 hour to figure out.

The problem was the video card. Try disable all screen saver that you have. same times the file is corrupt and make the computer freezing up.

    Let me if that works,

Mine did too but it was because of the wireless setup.

I think I finally have it solved. Don't ask me how I did it but, I disable the connection when I'm not using it.

Well I don't know your computer specs but if you have below 64mb of ram that could be one reason.
