Straightening wet hair?
Well, right now my hair isn't soaking wet or anything but it's a little wet/damp. When I use a flat iron and go over the wet parts it makes this steamy noise. Is it good to straighten my hair while it's wet? Can it harm my hair? Or since the flat iron plugs into a wall can I get shocked or something?

I am a cosmetologist and I would never recommend putting a flat iron on wet or damp hair. That damages the hair and can cause it to dry up and even break off. The only way I would put a straightner on wet hair is if the hair was getting chemically straightened

Not with a normal straightener. It'll damage your hair beyond belief. Imagine straightening your hair every single day with a 400 degree straightener with no heat protectant. That's how much damage straightening wet hair can do unless you have a wet-to-dry straightener.

you should never straighten your hair when its wet or damp because the heat from the straightener will definitely burn your hair so you should always make sure that your hair is completely dry before you you use a straightener on your hair. Its also a good idea to use a heat protectant on your hair before you straighten your hair because heat from something like a straightener (which gets very hot) can ruin your hair. But always make sure your hair is dry before taking an object such as a straightener to it..,

All i can say is that flatirons are meant for dry hair. So why take the risks of damaging your hair when there are actually hair styling tools that work with wet hair. Have you ever heard of the T3 Tourmaline Professional Ionic Wet or Dry Iron? well i think you should look into it.
This is your beauty you are putting at stake while you are potentially ruining your hair.

Straightening wet hair sucks all the moisture out of your hair leaving it dry and feeling like straw. It does ruin your hair so I don't recommend doing it.

Its not that bad. Just make sure your flat iron is made to do that. Some aren't and you could be putting yourself at risk for electrocution. It is better to dry your hair straight, then use the iron to finish it off. It will cause less damage to your hair.

If you do this, make sure that you have a leave-in conditioner in your hair. don't do this too often though becasue it is bad for your hair and can cause it to dry out.
