it was a little disappointing that some parts of the book were omitted in the movie. truth is if you didn't read the book or know nothing about christian history, then watching the movie would be either too confusing or boring.
the only consolation was seeing the fab performances of tom hanks and ian mckellen.

I read Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code when I was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Copenhagen some time last year. I brought an old book to the flight hoping to spend time in the plane reading the old book which I bought and never read, but while at the airport, I walked into a book shop and saw the book displayed among the Best Sellers. It was a best seller but then I didn;'t know what it was all about then. So, out of curiosity, I bought it and put my old book away. I started reading it and I never put the book down until I reached Copenhagen, and I continue the rest until the end on the way back to Kuala Lumpur.
My reaction was... what a story. Yes, the story telling was good, but the story was a total lie. I am saying the book is a very good fiction, but the story was a total lie.
I heard and read a lot about DaVinci code and what the churches have to say about it. How the churches explain to the Christian public that it is a total fiction. One priest says that it is a good book but to take it as a fiction only.
I researched about the Opus Dei (they existed but it is not how they operated as said in the book). I checked the Catholic websites, even National Geographics or the Discovery Channel has programs about the DaVinci Code. What a world-wide issue the book has caused.
I once read an article by a prominent writer in Malaysia (who is a Muslim) about the DaVinci Code. She starts by telling about a Muslim friend's daughter who after reading the DaVinci code got inspired to read the Bible out of curiosity. She tells about how the Christian reacted by doing it peacefully. Organising talks, forums, publish articles to teach the public/Christian public about the lies of the book, though at the same time not condemning it as a fiction.
So, before you either read or watched the Da Vinci Code, you got to equipped yourself with the faith and know what is the truth. Have faith and read the Da Vinci Code as a fiction.
