Why has Toyota hidden its engine sludge problem?

I mean, they're supposed to be the pinnacle of quality. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff41001.ht...

This is a link to a rant from a disgruntled owner, hardly an automotive expert. Engine sludging is not a concern for Toyota owners who care for their vehicles as per the manufacturers recommendations. I have not come across one single sludged engine that an owner could produce service records for that recieved regular(3-5k miles) oil and filter services.( I have worked in a Toyota dealership for 8 years)...

    whatmarc,

sometimes crazy customers need to go away and Toyota trusts the rest of us to determine who are crazy ones with their own rant webpages.

P.S. have you changed your oil recently? Any sludge?

P.S. I think calling Toyota the pinnacle of quality is an overstatement. They are simply dependable.

Toyota is an excellent automobile manufacturer, but they still are a corporation and therefore look after their own interests as opposed to that of their consumers. Better to save money today than to save the customer for life.
