What is a good, safe medication for fibromyalgia? What have you tried that isn't good?

Any alternative therapies or other suggestions you can make? I keep getting a few sample packets of prescription medicines, but can't really tell if any are making an impact, especially when it is only for a few days' time. The doctor seems quite frugal with the hand-outs!

cardio workouts are the best for fibromyalgia, plus massages.it is very important to keep fresh oxygenated blood running through the muscles.and massages plus muscle workouts keep the lymph fluid flowing, pooled lymph fluid is what causes the tight feeling as though fluids are pooling.good nutrition and sleep cycles and a routine as far as all of these.i have fibromyalgia for last 6 years.my rheumatologist worked with me for a year and i feel great.i take vicodin only if pain is severe and intolerable.i take klonopin 3 times a day to stay calm and not get stressed.we all know fibro folks cant handle adrenaline rushes, and it helps me sleep good..other wise i take tylenol 3 times a day only and use alternative methods without drugs to feel well and energetic.

If I remember correctly Dr.Paul Amand California Harvard university said that fibromyalgia is cause by excessive phosphoric acid in the body because some people dint have the enzymes required to metabolize this acid it stores in the body causing this problems he also found out that they respond to ursusuric drugs like the ones for gout and Mucinex this drug is prescribe for mucous build up in the lung but is a mild ursusuric and semi natural it help the body excrete this acids reliving the symptoms not curing the decease .This is a genetic problem Mucinex does work but is a slow progression remember this problem starts at birth it will take about 6 moths of using mucinex to See some real benefits

She should not take anything for pain except for Tylenol! Tylenol is the only thing doctors will let you take for pain, and the package only says that to cover their own butts, but its perfectly fine. No asprin or anything else. As for the other medications, most likely she can NOT take them, but you need to ask a doctor asap. Better yet, Look up a 24 hour Walgreens or CVS pharmacy and ask them RIGHT NOW before she takes anything else! :) Pharmacists sometimes know more about the drugs than doctors do.

Different medications work differently in people. Magnesium maleate is good for fibro.

I have a lot of sensitivities, so a lot of things I have tried and helped I can't take. Most people are prescribed a anti-depressant, and a pain reliever. I also am getting a muscle relaxer, because my muscles spasm. You kind of have to just try them and see what works best for you......

Well since fibromyalgia is a psychosomatic condition almost anything will work just as well as almost any other thing. They key is not to waste too much of your money on snake oil.
