Soak your feet in Epson Salt with luke warm water!

    Epsom Salt Baths

What are Epsom Salts? Epsom Salts are the same thing as Magnesium Sulfate, which is a salt made of only magnesium and sulphate (and maybe a little bit of water). Magnesium is a positively charged ion, and it binds to sulfate, which is a negatively charged ion. Sulfate is a sulphur atom surrounded by four oxygen atoms. You can buy them at your local drugstore or pharmacy or even in the grocery store. They are usually located in larger bags near the bandages or the foot care section (in a pinch, smaller containers can be found in the laxative aisle, but it is cheaper to buy them in the larger bags/cartons).

What is the anticipated effect from an Epsom Salt bath? Epsom Salts have long been used to stimulate detoxification, reduce inflammation to sore muscles, promote healthy circulation, and help with relaxation and normalizing sleep patterns. Most people respond to an ES bath by appearing happier, more relaxed. Some parents report that their children are more responsive, more “with it”. People who take the bath in the evenings report that they are able to get to sleep easier, and have a more normal sleep pattern.

    What is your age now?

Since how many years you have the kidney failure? Is it one or both?

The immediate requirement is dialysis - after that only some medication can be given to rectify the trouble you have.

For the pain relief as suggested all other friends in Yahoo you may follow the hot water bath for your ankle/feet with a mix of Epsom Salt. It could relieve the pain but is not a cure.

It could be several things. Are you a diabetic? Do you have a history of heart disease in your family? Swollen ankles could be a sign of a vein or artery blockage, the blood can't be returned to the heart efficiently so it just gathers at your feet and lower legs. I would see doctor. Good Luck.

Make sure to drink plenty of water. Stay in a nice cool environment. Sometimes, getting up and walking around can help. If you sit to long, your ankles can swell. Also, talk to a doctor about water pills. They can help flush out your system.

Do NOT do what the person above me said to do. People in Kidney failure SHOULD NOT drink plenty of water nor should they take diuretics. Sigh ... I'm stunned at these answers.

You need to reduce your fluid intake and cut salt out of your diet. Speak with your nephrologist about a modification of your dialysis if you are on it. You probably have to go longer or they need to adjust how much fluid they take off each visit. If your dry weight is going up you really need to monitor what your eating and drinking more carefully. If your not on dialysis you probably will need to be. See your doctor and dietician asap.

Go for a pedicure and ask for a leg massage. I did this when I had swollen ankles during my pregnancy...it made all the difference.

The first thing to try is to drink lots of water. Your body may be afraid to let water go because you are not letting any in. Also, cut down on your salt intake.

Taking natural apple cider vinegar helps your body to rid itself of poisons and gets your system back in balance. Take two teaspoons of vinegar, and one or two teaspoons of honey in a glass of water. Or, you can add them to hot water for a more soothing drink. Or, you can take Natural apple cider vinegar tablets. Take two in the morning and two in the late afternoon, drinking a full glass of water with them each time.

Use epsom salt in the water hen you soak them that will help somewhat. You should tell your doctor about this problem and see if there are any medicines available to help you get rid of the swelling.
