Does anyone elses TV/VCR combo turn on of its own accord?
My TV/VCR combo is kinda old, got it when it first came out. I don't think the tv's age is the reason though because it has started this a little after I got it. Then we got another (different brand, same size) and it does the same thing. It usually happens in the middle of the night, rarely during the day. Then it will stop for a while but usually it starts turning on by itself again. There is no remote control for it either. Whats going on?

I used to sell TV's and every now and then we'd have a TV that would unexpectadly pop on, or off. It happened because of a timer setting that usually got set and nobody knew about it. I would check your manual and see if there's a timer for it to turn on. If it did have the possibility to use a remote control, it could be that stray radio waves are causing it to turn off and on as well.
If all else fails, hold a seance, maybe there's another tenant living(using the term loosely) with you.

Mine does everytime the power goes off, and when it's restored it's mysteriously on.
Yours sounds jacked up.
