How's this for freedom in Iraq?
I've been hearing stories of how Iraqis are enjoying freedom and democracy these days. Did you hear about the shepherds who were killed for not putting diapers on their goats because the local imams decreed that the sight of goats' bottoms were too tempting the men? Did you hear about the grocer who was killed, along with his family, for displaying vegetables in a "suggestive" manner? Do you hear about the women who are arrested on trumped up charges including witchcraft and murder, are taken to the local jails, where they are gang raped and beaten until they confess to any crime, which is actually better than being released and murdered by their own families for having maybe been dishonored, whether or not it is true.
Do you believe US troops are really there to "defend our freedom?" Are their lives being lost so these atrocities can take place? These maniacs are allowed to run rampant thanks to the US liberation. I don't consider what WE'VE done to Iraq to be an improvement!
Here's a link to the report about some of what I've described: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story... You think people make that crap up??

I don't believe Bush has a clue to what he has done except to reach his own agenda.
I see where your coming from as far as "liberating them" we don't understand their culture their way of thinking and maybe it is best in certain 3rd world countries for them to be ruled with an Iron fist so crazy stuff like your talking about doesn't happen.
No I don't believe we are in Iraq to defend our freedom. The terrorists that attacked us weren't even based in Iraq. It was just an excuse for Bush to reach his agenda.

"Freedom in Iraq means Freedom in usa," maximum individuals adversarial to the conflict (no longer unavoidably liberals) might disagree with this assertion. they might disagree by way of fact there grow to be little or no involvement with al Qaeda terrorists in Iraq beforehand of the invasion. Saddam grow to be a despot and a foul guy, yet he relatively posed no probability to usa (or maybe Israel). maximum intelligence and international family experts agree that by way of fact the invasion, Iraq has becomea greater effectual breeding floor for terrorists and greater volatile. I have not got any concern with centred strikes to discover people who've attacked us and take them out; concern is that we invaded and occupied a usa for no particular reason. that's an entire nother kettle of fish, and it has no longer something to do with "freedom in usa." added, what does the conflict ought to do with communism or socialism? no longer something in besides. it incredibly is only unnecesary repeated rhetoric that by some means demcrats what us to be communists, which of direction is plenty from the fact. Communitarian suggestions, which incorporate conventional wellbeing care, a residing salary, and shopper protections does not make a communist (or possibly a socialist) state. And in case you go with to communicate the virtues of a single-payer wellbeing care gadget, or no remember if the minimum salary is effectual, or no remember if social protection must be privatized, or, on the different hand, no remember if the Iraq conflict has made us greater shelter, or no remember if the U. S. ought to unilaterally attack different international locations preemptively, or no remember if we ought to constantly be wiretapping interior the activity of 'national protection' (an incredibly communist theory), that's fantastic, we are able to debate that, yet do no longer confuse all of those issues at the same time.

No our troops are not there to defend OUR freedom they are they for Mr Bush and his oil. This is all for Mr Bush and his greedy money hungry a$$!!! I mean come on people the middle east have been fighting for hundreds of years and we ARE NOT GONNA CHANGE THAT!! The sooner people realize that the sooner our troops will come home. Just because Saddam is out dont mean nothing there is another one waiting in line to pick up where he left off!! Once our troops leave all will be the same for the middle east that is just the plain truth!! Just like Vietnam nothing was accomplished and yes my dad and uncles fought that war, some came home others died. The ones that lived say it was all for naught and they had no choice but to fight. It was that or Military prison or be branded a coward. They did not believe in what our government sent them there for. We did not learn from our mistake and that will be our downfall.

Way to go "S". Three cheers for your hubby and all the others over there and everywhere else in the world trying to protect our freedoms.
Personally, I think those things were going on even before we ever got there but since we are there, there is more media coverage and due to that we now see what is and has been happening all along.
It's stupid to think that this is a "new" thing that has come about since our presence over there. I was in Vietnam and it was the same story there.
The one thing I am happy about, at least our military is being respected at home this time, unlike when the Vietnam war was going on.
Kudos to all military personnel and their families.

It's easy to say moronic things when you are sitting on your A$$ in the comfort of your home enjoying the freedom that those soldiers provide you to type silly things on your computer on yahoo answers. I suggest you join the military and witness first hand how hard our soldiers fight for our country and our lives not to mention their own lives. There, unfortunately, is no such thing as complete peace or a perfect Utopia......the world will NEVER be free of violence or horrible situations like the ones you mentioned but at least our troops are out there trying to make the situations better. Saddam can no longer rape women with broken bottles, etc. Believe it or not US troops have made the situation better then it was......you have to remember that there has been and will always be war in the middle east...these people have been in war for thousands of years. Don't criticize those who are attempting to help. These troops CHOOSE to join the military and fight for us. The least you could do is appreciate it. Look at this web page of all of the US Troops that have died http://projects.washingtonpost.com/fallen/page6/
Are you telling me you would look them in the face and tell them they died for nothing? They are fighting for nothing?
You speak of things that you obviously know NOTHING about.
I am married to a US ARMY soldier who has spent 14 months of his life serving in Iraq. I have heard his stories and gotten a disturbing mental picture of the things he's seen there. Our soliders are not bloodthirsty maniacs with ulterior motives. Of course there are a few bad seeds in every crowd...ie the troops who supposedly raped and killed an iraqi woman and her family. But not all of them are bad. They are there doing their job and yes that job is to defend freedom. Unfortunately, war is a necessary evil. Those people were fighting and committing heinous acts before our troops ever got there and they will continue to do so after our troops leave. The crazy stuff that you described happens ALL OVER THE WORLD (CUBA and EL SALVADOR are good examples)....don't be so naive as to think that it's only happening there. WAY before the war in Iraq I remember reading an article in a woman's magazine about a muslim lady who doused herself in gasoline and lit herself on fire in the middle of town to protest the horrible treatment of muslim women. Now, thanks partly to our troops presence in Iraq, many of these women have been liberated. My husband has told me that nothing made him feel better then when the locals in the town where he was stationed in Iraq would take the time to Thank him and praise him and his fellow soldiers for what they are doing for their country. You should take the time to research Iraq BEFORE 2003......before our troops were sent there ....iraq has always been chaotic.
ALSO, don't focus so much on US soldiers...if you truly did your research you would know that MANY MANY other countries have soldiers that have been deployed to Iraq and are occupying the same camps that US soldiers occupy. In fact, my husband befriended several of them.
THERE ARE Japanese troops, Scottish Troops, Australian, British, Ukranian, Dutch, the list goes ON AND ON. Do your research. So you see that NOT ONLY is President Bush supporting the war in Iraq.......so are the leaders of MANY Other countries around the globe.

People in the middle-east have not evolved beyond year 700A.D.
Ever since the "prophet" mohammed came to that area. The revenge part of their brains overrides any sort of reasoning or logic.
The only thing sicker than the muslim mind are the liberals in the west that defend their "culture".

You don't consider a democracy better than the dictatorship of Sadaam Hussein??? You must be crazy. It was way worse with that moron in power. Mass murders, way more rapes and abuse. You must be a very angry liberal.

I dont really believe those stories, but i definitely agree that having the u.s in Iraq is definitely making the place worse.
