What to do about shedding hair?

I am black female. I had highlights put in my hair over 8 months ago and my hair has been shedding ever since! I was told that if I put a cellophane color in it, it would help stop the shedding. Is this true? What can I do to stop the shedding?

Sorry that it took me so long to answer you. Ok the very first step is to get the highlights out of your hair. The way that you do that is by changeing your hair color back to it's normal color ( for example if it is black than change it back to black) stay away from all hair dyes and bleach. Go to the beauty palor then let them do it. We as black people always grow our hair long and as soon as that happens we get bored with the way that we do our hair. So then comes the color and that is when we have just killed our hair. Let me explain. When you dye your hair it take's the beautian a few times before you get the color that you actually want so all the time that you are waiting for the color your hair is dead. So once she apply the color then your hair comes back to life. Please don't color your hair weither it be a highlight or a straight dye please. Because at first your hair be looking real nice then next thing you know your hair will start falling out like now. If you use a cellophane rinse then use the color of your hair because your hair is healing it's self and it wants to be back healthy. After you use the rinse use a protien treatment
