    The was another Jedi named Yaddle. However, Lucas has never revealed what planet or what type of species Yoda is.

    General "assumptions" is that Yoda's species is that of the "Whills." This stems from the original novelization of Episode 4: A New Hope which had a foreward noting that the story was lifted/being retold from the Journal of the Whills.

    Expect, however, that this remains unresolved as Lucas likes to keep his secrets.

    A female member of his species on the Jedi council there was. Yaddle was here name. Watch the The Phantom Menace and see her you will. Yet to be revealed Yoda origin has been.

    The name Yoda comes from Sanskirt. An ancient language that was used in the "Duel of the Fates" song. "yudh" means warrior, or a fight/battle.

    No one knows. If you read the books luke does an extensive search

    to try and find out and even with star wars advanced computer recording systems he is unable to determin what species he is.
