I saw this on a regular basis as soon as I updated Internet Explorer to the latest version 7 (it is in release candidate 1 mode at present). BT Help/Broadband/Wireless Manager software is not compatible yet and they are working on a fix - or so their help desk says.

The problem disappears as soon as I revert to the IE 6. If you are not on IE 7 yet, then think back to the last item you installed. That will probably be the culprit.

There is no reason why you cannot remove the BT Help software, it is not that useful and the native Windows stuff handles the connections quite adequately

BT help requires Microsofts form of Java (why they can't use the standard I don't know). You can download it off the BT site but I would uninstall BT Help, Install virtual Java (http://www.btyahoo.com/broadbandassistance) and then reinstall help.
