Have Americans evolved to a point that they are ready to elect a person of color to the White House?

I have actually written in a black candidate's name. I would easily support a conservative black or Indian or Asian.... none of that really matters.

In fact I think there is more racism from people of color than there is from Caucasian. Look, when national crime statistics show that in inter-racial crime a white man is sixty times more likely to die at the hands of a black man than a black man is to die at the hands of a white man, and we still have the mouthpieces screaming racism when a black man is rightly convicted, that's racism all right, against whites.

I think some black politicians are politicians because they want to make a difference IN the black community as much as FOR the black community. Condi may not want the post, but most conservatives want Condi to run for pres.

No, but there a only two candidates I can think of that America would even think about voting for. Barack Obama, and Colin Powell. Condi Rice has too much of a track record with G.W. so I don't think she should be trusted. It is unfortunate that the blacks of this country have ruined their own reputations. Such as Marion Berry, Ray Nagin, Jesse Jackson, AL Sharpton etc. Leopards never change their spots. Colin, and Barack are incredible, intelligent men who could do alot for this country, but I don't see anyone else with the magic. Other than them I don't see any other worthy candidates.

ok, like the black guy who ran New Orleans,the mayor,admitted he lied about babies being raped in the street. I don't care, NO ONE is that freakin sick to rape a baby while in full view of others. NO ONE! So,i know he was lying! ! No, we will never have a person of color in the oval office,because the whites will do everything in their power to stop it,and it is sad. That is why MLK was killed,some whites thought he was getting too big for his britches,and those ppl feared he would rise higher than an activist,and feared he would be more powerful than what he already was. he was not powerful, per se, but he made ppl THINK, and that in and of itself,scared ppl of that era. He set the standard for the black community to think they could achieve higher than what they were in life,and that scared the white community senseless. They knew he had to be " gotten rid of" so he would not rise to power,and maybe give the black ppl hope of a better tomorrow. ( oh geez, now i sound like a teacher!! )

George W. Bush is tan in color. Hell, every president we've had has been tan in color. Tan is a color.

I think the majority of people would be willing to elect a different color person if they felt his qualifications were better than the other candidate's.

Yes, obsolutely..But at least for a next hundred years that person should come from the RIGHT.I do not see any one from the left (of color) who will put America First.

Yes, most Americans would vote for whomever they think would be best at the job. But if you're getting ready to trot out Al Sharpton, FORGET ABOUT IT!!!!! It's going to have to be someone credible, and someone who doesn't play the race card......someone who just sees himself as an American FIRST.

(Although if Colin Powell ran, I think he'd do well, especially against the sad slate of candidates that Mr. Dean is trotting out for '08).

I'd like to think so, but if you look at some of the answers, it doesn't look like it.

I'd vote for Obama. And I would have voted for Powell. Not Condi, though, I don't trust her. (Not because she's a woman, but because she's one of GWB's henchmen.)
