A live electric wire falls on one end of a pond with half km dia touching water. Anybody get shock other end?

No. You've gotten a couple of good answers but the reality is that a live wire falling into a 500m diameter pond will cause a short circuit to ground and blow a breaker on the line. After an instant or two, there will be no current flowing at all, as a breaker will have tripped. The current-carrying capacity of a pond that size has to be thousands of amps.

Even at the moment the power was shorting out, the resistance of the pond to ground would be much lower than the resistance of a person touching the water to ground. Therefore, virtually no current would flow through the person and there would be no shock.

Suppose that we imagine a scenario where in place of the pond you have a bucket of water, then you are viable to get an electric shock. But considering the size of the said pond, chances are that you will not get a shock at the other end, as probably the earth ( ground beneath water ) will absorb the current as it has negative potential and hence answer is NO.

There would not be a path through the person for the electrons to travel to. The persons body would have a higher resistance to ground and electrons always want the path of least resistance.

It will depend on the depth of the pool & power of the wire... however if it has adequate depth in that case even a lightning strike cannopt go accross half km...

High voltage live wire, yes, anyone and everyone touching water or wet ground in close vicinity, but probably not getting killed.

Water is a conductor. The stay cord varieties close circuit in the process the water->your finger dipped interior the water->your physique->your ft on the floor. so which you will get an electric powered ask your self. BTW. do not attempt this!!

yes 100% . the one standing on the other hand will definitely get a shock, just for the simple reason that water is a good conductor of electricity.............

Probably not the electricity will go to ground tripping the breaker.
