Ok hard to show a matrix here, but here goes (sorry for the length):

    For 8 teams:

    Group A:

    HomevAway

    AvB (Game 1)

    CvD (Game 2)

    AvC (Game 3)

    BvD (Game 4)

    DvA (Game 5)

    Group B:

    HvA

    EvF (Game 6)

    GvH (Game 7)

    EvG (Game 8)

    FvH (Game 9)

    HvE (Game 10)

Then the top two from each group go on to the playoffs:

    Group A 1st place v Group B 2nd place (Game 11)

    Group B 1st place v Group A 2nd place (Game 12)

Championship Game 11 winner vs Game 12 winner.

    For 10 teams:

    Group A:

    HomevAway

    AvB (Game 1)

    CvD (Game 2)

    EvA (Game 3)

    AvC (Game 4)

    DvE (Game 5)

    BvD (Game 6)

    EvB (Game 7)

    DvA (Game 8)

    BvC (Game 9)

    CvE (Game 10)

    Group B:

    HomevAway

    FvG (Game 11)

    HvI (Game 12)

    JvF (Game 13)

    FvH (Game 14)

    IvJ (Game 15)

    GvI (Game 16)

    JvG (Game 17)

    IvF (Game 18)

    GvH (Game 19)

    HvJ (Game 20)

Then the top two from each group go on to the playoffs:

    Group A 1st place v Group B 2nd place (Game 21)

    Group B 1st place v Group A 2nd place (Game 22)

Championship Game 21 winner vs Game 22 winner.

    Hope that helps.
