English words with Latin etymology that end with the letter "s" can be good examples. Fungus is singular and its plural form is fungi. The same goes for the word alumnus. Its plural form is alumni. Thesaurus is singular. Its plural form can either be thesauruses or thesauri. Cactus (Greek etymology) is the singular form while its plural form is cacti.
