Has there been any research on dream reruns? I've had several recurring dreams, often years apart.?

I had an elaborate dream the other night involving a musical number and very detailed setpieces. And I remember in the dream thinking: this isn't how it was done before, before they did it like - Oh! now they're doing it right. This has happened before, where during the dream I can recall having had the dream in the past, or upon waking I recall having had the dream in the past.

It doesn't happen often, but is it unusual? Have any others experienced this? The dreams don't recur on successive nights, so it isn't related stress causing them to repeat. Often there are months or years in between recurrences.

    I've never found any.

I've had the same dream for over 20 years, at least 2 times each year it comes to my mind at sleep.

Ive had dream re runs of dreams ive had when i was like 5 years old. Alot of my dreams are recurring and I know excatly whats going to happen next and I can change what happens also. I think it may have something to do with settling an issue because i always had a particular dream with an awful ending and I would always know that awful ending was going to happen in the dream then one night the ending was different and was a good ending and Ive never had that dream ever again.

You might look into regression hypnotherapy. You may have repressed some memory and this dream somehow is associated with it. I have reoccurring dreams of being in the middle of some tornado and feeling under pressure or electrocuted.Maybe it's just a mild heart attack, heartburn or indigestion. Pass the Pepto?

I used to have all of them the time, so I were given into dream interpretation. It truly helped. i have studied desires for years and locate them alluring. Now my desires are a lot extra useful and by no ability so scary… and that i no longer have recurring nightmares.

Can't be too weird--I have had that happen.

I would think it recurs when the same "unresolved" issues come to the forefront.
