I will be leaving the U.S. Military in < 8 Months with 20 yrs of service. Any employment advice?

Consider becoming a probation officer.

I had a friend who became a drug and alcohol counselor for the county. Very lucrative.

Or, you might become a civilian paralegal. They are pretty much in demand.

First off Thanks for your 20 years,

Next I had a Big shock when I got out of how much crying and stupid thing do and get away with at work. Also there are a lot of people with out right crappy commutation skills, at time i can spend half the day nailing down bad information and try to figure out what the heck some people are saying.

One last thing if you been to the Beach party give your self some time, and know when to take a walk.

With aviation maintenance try some of the local airports. They generally start head hunting employees just before they leave the service. My brother was Chief in Navy when he retired at 40 and now has kick *** job with company who handles government contracts for missles. Big Bucks. 20 years shows dedication and that is what they look for as well as experience.

First make sure if you have any thing that happened to you while in documented, just a heads up, you may get some disability and you wont have to pay tax on that portion. Plus if you have any thing that may get worse with time, make sure its in your record. 30% is good, check the VA booklet out.

As far as jobs go, you may want to try something new other than Legal, heck you did that long enough...What are some fun things you enjoy doing, there may be a job in that....
