What is Newfunese?
Has anyone ever heard of the word and to what does it allude? My friend tried to tell me it is a language all its own.

Ah! Newfunese...the language of the Newfies, spoken by the people of the strange and wonderful world (or Canadian province) of Newfoundland. While you will not find a friendlier or more helpful person than that of Newfoundland heritage, you will have to spend atleast a week straight there before you can actually pick up on the language and even then you will still need frequent translation. When travelling to Newfoundland it is recommended that you carry a a Newfunese to English dictionary at ALL times. Don't worry about asking them to repeat themselves. They're used to it and will gladly comply.
Here are the Ten Commandments from the Newfunese Bible:
(1) Jus' one Lard.
(2) Honor yer Mudder 'n Fadder
(3) No tellin' jigs 'n yarns.
(4) Go on ta deh Sundee meetin bye.
(5) Dere's nuttin' afore deh 'oly Lard.
(6) No friggin' 'round wit anudder buddy's missus.
(7) No killin'.
(8) Mind yer mout
(9) Never mine 'bout whuh t'ain't yers.
(10) Never mine 'bout yer buddy's stuff.

Some people may consider it a language all its own but really it is just english spoken very quickly with some local words added in. NFLD (Eastern most province in Canada is where it is spoken). I have been there and heard it spoken. It is difficult to understand but when all is said and done it is the same as english.

it's the term given to the way the people talk in Newfoundland, the most Eastern province in Canada. they speak english but they have a funny accent and sometimes it's hard to understand and it really is a language all it's own!
