Since 80% of the laws affecting the UK come from the EU, why dont we have 80% less UK politicians?

Why are we shelling out for the 657 lazy bunch of tossers with their snouts in the trough? They are all such EU-philes they should be glady making themselves redundant to spare us some taxes!

I don't have an answer, but I love British slang.

Well in simple terms you have 657 Members of Parliament to represent the people who live in the UK proportionally, any law enacted must be supported by a majority of the 100% of citizens represented in the house of Commons. The laws, even the 80% that were adopted from the EU needed to be acceptable to parliament and therefore are chosen by parliament in their own right.

You are also making a relation between the number of laws passed by certain parliaments vs the number of MPs. This is much like saying that since this Board of Education is using 80% of the same books as the neighbouring board then we should have 80% less teachers, despite an equal number of students...

You argument could also be made about the cabinet in the UK. The EU comes up with the laws the national parliments still have to ratify them. The same complaint also would work for local authorities and the assemblies in Wales and Scotland. (Not talking about Northern Ireland as it is static)

The laws made by the EU are also of the economic and trade category. Social, security and judicial laws are made and passed by your parliment alone.

You saying to make them redundant to save tax payers means that you putting them on the dole, which I'm guessing wouldnt help taxes either.

I think it's about time the system was stripped down a bit.

We seem to get more and more levels of government and less and less for our money.

Lets go back to feudalism and start by putting all of the MP's in a ring and let 'em belt 7 barrels of sh1t out of each other.

At least we'll get some entertainment out of it :o)

Good idea! But how about this..... They are so keen on enforcing cheap labour! ( No Pun intended! ) on us, Lets get Polish MP's in , they will do the job for less than half the price.

If you got rid of them, these people would be out on the streets.

Best leave them in government where they can't do any harm! :)
