What type of insects eat milkweed? (Besides the monarc caterpillar)?

I was at a local nature preserve last fall and was looking for monarc caterpillars on the milkweed, and found large areas of the milkweed destroyed by huge grasshoppers. I though milkweed was poisonus to most insects.
